As recently reported in an article by Jayne O'Donnell at USA Today, mail-in rebates generally aren't quite as prevalent as they once were. Mail-in rebates, especially around the holidays, are a big pain if you're gifting an item because you need to have "proof of purchase" in order to get the rebate.
