Collecting for fun, not profit

I have a confession to make; my wife and I are obsessive collectors. No, you won't find us on the next episode of "Hoarders," but we do have corners of our home dedicated to our various passions, from sports collectibles to stuffed animals to glassware to die-cast toy cars to... well, you get the idea. And while we've certainly made a few bucks selling collectibles over the years, we've never gotten rich doing so and we knew we never would. Instead, we did it for the sheer fun. Of course, not all collectors share our viewpoint. Many are investors first, caring more about what a collectible might now or someday be worth than whether they actually want (or even like) it.
